A Year on Facebook

Last year, on this very same week, I joined Facebok.  I know it was this very week.  Gary had gone quail hunting down in the “boot heel” with my dad… and that’s where they are again.  I had taken down the Christmas decorations, the end-of-the-year spreadsheets were in order, and all the first-of-the-month bills were paid.  I had tackled and (amazingly enough) learned how to use a smart phone. And with pushing and pulling and prodding from friends and family (for Pete’s sake, my mother and mother-in-law were both able to “do” Facebook!), I finally decided to give it a go.

I remember the joy when I finally realized you could click “Home”, and there all your friends would appear, saying the most clever little things!  And then the fun of discovering how to find their photos… children in ballet recitals, families having birthday parties, friends on beaches, cupcakes and weddings.

There’s a new thing going on when you click to read a specific thread… “Memorable Stories”… and it’s just showing me four things at a time.  Things I’ve posted throughout the year.  I’m loving the little walk down memory lane.

Off to the County Fair.  Looking forward to curly fries!

I’m in the chair, I’ve had the shot… my brother-in-law is one great dentist!

Coffee in the Keys.  Hated saying no to Key Lime pie… but must save room for supper.

Another good night.  Blood pressure and temperature good.  “Calm” is becoming one of my favorite words for my aunt.

Just enjoyed a delicious and beautiful brunch with family and friends at Southside.  Perfect for such a grand spring morning!!

What a treat it’s been, sharing my little snippets, and having you share yours with me.  To my Facebook friends:  Thank you for praying for my family, for listening to my political speeches, for coming along on my vacations, for ooh-ing and ahh-ing over my adorable nieces and nephews, for cheering me on in my races, for sending helpful tips on how to manage a skunk.  You have been such a happy part of my life for the past 12 months.

And now that I have this blog going, thank you for coming over here and sharing this part of my life with me.  Thank you for commenting, for passing the site along to others, for clicking the “like” button, for encouraging me.

Happy Status everyone!  What’s on your mind?
