Another Portrait

You just can’t predict the wonderful little coincidences that come along in life.  They’re always a great joy when they come!  Like learning a new word, then hearing it in conversation the next day.  Or traveling to an interesting park on vacation, and seeing it in a movie a few weeks later.  I love things like that.

You can imagine my delight when I got a phone call from my mom asking if I’d be willing to sit for a portrait at the monthly La Escalera Art Guild meeting.  She had no idea that in the past few days I’d been taking photos of my portraits and writing about them for my website.  I might have already posted the articles, but I was waiting for Nana’s birthday.

And so, while I’ve been on this happy path of portraiture, I have another nice memory to add to the mix.  I occasionally attend the Art Guild meetings as a guest.  Always a wonderful time for me.  It’s a room full of friends… some life-long, some new.  Many of the members came to our home studio for art lessons when I was a child, so we all feel quite comfortable together with oil paints, coffee, brownies and fun conversation all in the mix.  On this particular March night I enjoyed sitting stone still, looking out over this wonderful group of artists.  And it was fun to see myself on canvas by the talented hand of Carolyn Lindsey
