Cherish the Simple Days

I have a very dear friend who lives near Tokyo.  I’m so thankful she and her family are safe, although their neighborhood suffered serious damage.

Two days ago she sent me wonderful photos… one of her little boys playing in a soccer tournament with huge snow flakes coming down.  Another son is graduating from the sixth grade next week, and she wrote of preparation for the wonderful upcoming ceremonies.

And today, their lives were turned upside down.

It’s a reminder to us all.  Cherish those soccer games in the snow.  Treasure those elementary school graduations.  They are the simple pleasures of life that fill our hearts with joy and give us incredible opportunities to make beautiful memories.

How wonderful that they are safe, it sounds like the earth keeps moving today. Best wishes to them!

The devastation in some parts is beyond comprehension for me. We must pray for everyone in Japan.

The misery they’re all going through… so heartbreaking.

We don’t know when the hard days are coming, and I use this day to remind myself to thank God for “uneventful” days.

Thank you for this, Sandy. I’ve cried again and again, knowing so many people are praying for us.
