Springtime is just ‘round the bend

I’m so glad it’s coming again

Oh sweet daffodil

You give me a thrill

Welcome, my long lost friend

Every spring when we saw the first daffodil in bloom my Mom would say this poem:

    daffy-down-dilly has come to town
    in her yellow petticoat
    and her green gown.

To this day I can’t see a daffodil without thinking of that.

I think that poem may be in that black and white Mother Goose book we grew up with!

Yes it is! Right below Jack Sprat and Hush-A-Bye. =)

Yes the Daffodills are up and blooming at Welcome Home.
So beautiful and cheerful waving in the wind.

  5. Sandy says:

Cheerful is the perfect word for daffodils!

We havent seen any daffodils yet in our area though a friend says she has seen their little green heads peeking through. I have not had the chance to plant any yet on our property but am going to. When I lived in England they “naturlized” them I think its called. They would poke up in clumps around trees in grassy areas all over and I loved it. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Kathy, I hope you’ll be able to get the bulbs in the ground this year. What a fun spring treat.
