I won’t lie to you.  It took years of white-knuckled moments before I was able to conquer my fear of parakeets.  My husband is a manly man, but he’s afraid of dogs.  We have spent many a night in a little tent by a stream, praying that what we were hearing was truly water tumbling over a rock, and not a bear coming across in search of a midnight snack.  We have been traumatized by pack mules munching grass outside our tent. And one time, when a sweet little deer came to our campsite hoping we’d share some of the potatoes we were peeling, we very carefully maneuvered ourselves into position safely behind the picnic table.

We’re a little bit afraid of the wildlife!

So… what I’m asking for here is a very big pat on the back.  Yes indeed!  I stood 15 feet from a Komodo Dragon in the wild!  And boy howdy, was I sweating.  (But that may have been from the 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity.)

Never dreamed, or even hoped I’d see these dragons in real life.  But I was not about to sail past Komodo Island without having a look!

A few days later we were happy to see these sweet little creatures, and our adrenaline was a bit more regulated.

Wow! You are brave! We saw Komodo Dragons at the Denver Zoo a few months ago and I was very glad for the glass between it and me! They are scary! Big pat on the back for you indeed!

It was really amazing. We moved very slowly, and thanked the men with the sticks over and over again! Ha! Those dragons would see a sudden movement, and would turn those ferocious heads with those frightening eyes! Yikes!

Wonderful! You are brave indeed but I would so go see them, too. In the wild koala bears aren’t so sweet and cuddly though from what I’ve heard!! But they probably don’t move as quickly as those dragons!! Love you hat as well and am loving getting to see your pictures and hearing your stories! THANK YOU!
