Goodbye Summer

What a lot of my yard looks like

And under a well watered tree

Dear summer, I bid you adieu

Quite frankly, I’ve had it with you

You’ve been hot, you’ve been dry

Me oh me, my oh my

Your skies have been nothing but blue

It’s clouds that I want in my day

With thunderstorms heading my way

My lawn looks like toast

Every day we just roast

Hurry September, I say!

Hate to sound so discontent – desperately longing for the next season – but the nonstop heat wave of this summer, combined with the serious drought, has just about taken its toll on me.  School is starting and the county fair is just around the corner… both delightful harbingers of autumn.  I’m ready!

School in Castle Rock is already in week 3 and the County Fair was last week. Funny how the timing is different everywhere.

Different, but the same. It all adds up to the ending of summer. When you see those yellow school buses rolling by, it’s a definite marker!

Sandy, take a deep breath, girl. You sound too stressed.

Hee hee! The Worn-Out-Sandy came unleashed yesterday on the way to the mailbox. I always go barefooted, and that crunchy grass got my goat!!

I think we’re all ready for a break, like some rain possibly…could that be too much to ask

I think you have summed up the feelings of almost everyone!

Well… at least our neighbors in New Mexico and Texas!

I was just yearning for fall….but I’m just not quite ready to let go of summer. Just picked a bunch of Squash the kids grew. I’m so proud of them…. they loved seeing the garden grow Now hoping for some tomatoes, if we are lucky enough. It was a hot dry summer but I love summer still!!!!
