This is my wonderful Christmas gift from my wonderfully talented mother! Portales friends, I hope you’ll drive by and see him in the daylight. No time to get lights shining on him this year. (Cobbler’s children going without shoes.)

  2. Pam says:

I meant to tell you that on the night we went caroling, when we were singing next door to you, everyone thought that was Gary up in the window, looking down at us! ha!

  3. Kim says:

Can’t wait to see him in person!

  4. Sandy says:

We’ve had a few phone calls asking if it’s Gary standing up there at night! (In fact, one was from a caroler that night!!)

  5. Marcea Clive says:

You could have saved LaWanda some time if you had only bought a suit for Gary…… tee hee.
Sandy, I love Father Christmas. If not a wife, do you think he had a brother? (inside joke)

  6. Sandy says:

Hee hee! Yes… we’ve had fun calling him “Brother Christmas” because Mama thinks he looks a little young! And speaking of “brothers”. Little Brother Dusty is furious about this man standing in the window. He growls and carries on every time he comes over! (Scared me to pieces the first morning I came out of my bedroom and saw him standing there!!)

  7. Donna McBroon says:

    He’s delightful!

  8. Michele says:

I couldn’t figure out what that was! My kids and I have only been by at night looking at the lights and we’ve been wondering. 🙂 I will take them by in the daylight to see him!

What a wonderful gift from your mother, Sandy. He is beautiful but I bet it was disconcerting to see him at first! I know more than a few little girls who were afraid of Santa and requested that he leave any gifts outside the front door.

I used to have a barn as well… Christmas time my two kids and I would sit in the little dormer window upstairs and watch everyone drive by to see our street with all the luminarias! Just precious memories….
With much love and wishes for a wonderful holiday season to your fabulous family! M

We had fun making “Brother Christmas”!

  12. Betty Williamson says:

I drove by and saw him a week or so ago! He’s perfect for your barn. Did you make him, Lawanda?

If you look down the blog a couple of posts at “Christmas Gift”, you’ll see a beautiful gift bag in the photo. My niece gave it to me last year with kitchen towels inside. I loved the bag so much… and it was the inspiration for this wonderful life-sized painting. Thanks, again, to Katie and to my mom!
