I Have Issues

I have issues with people.  I know this of myself.  It’s such a clinical way of saying that I’ve had it up to here with people.  Sounds so mature, doesn’t it.  Ha!

Well, I do.  I have issues with people who won’t clean up their own disastrous messes in a bathroom.  I have issues with people who only talk, and never listen.  I have issues with people who spit tobacco onto the floor of someone’s dream home, even if the floor is still plain concrete, and the walls are just being framed.  I have issues with those who would take my personal property without so much as a how-do-you-do.  I have issues with people who cannot find it in themselves to say the two simple words of “thank you”.  I have issues with people who can never be on time to anything.  I have issues with those who say they will do something, but then don’t, and then hope it all just gets swept under the rug.

G is out to breakfast with a young man who wants to work for us.  I hope he doesn’t do any of the aforementioned things.  I don’t want to have issues with him!

Even when you rant and rave it still brightens my day thanks. I have some of the same issues, My pet peeve is people talking too much And never listening.

  2. Sandy says:

    Thanks, Clara!
    The ol’ one-sided conversation… always a downer!

Most of these “issues” have to do with what most of us call “good manners”. Not sure how to fix it. But, we can all rant and rave about it ’cause it makes us feel better………Thanks, Sandy, love your rants.

haha! I thought up this exact column, only I have issues with behavior at funerals. A ringing cell phone, (which still makes my face turn red because of the Andy Griffith thing), but happily answering and walking out of the room??? You’re not that important. Coming late, talking, getting up and going in and out like the service time belongs to you. Most people don’t want a circus for a funeral and if they do, most families certainly don’t. There are a few RARE exceptions, but my rule is Come In, Sit Down and Shut Up, and if you must talk, Whisper. There you have the rant of the day.

  5. Sandy says:

Oh my goodness! Rave on… anyone who feels the need!

I agree with you, Sharon. I get tied up in knots when people don’t use common courtesy even at noisy events like big graduations. But at a funeral! Oh!

I almost got out a list, but rather than get all riled up, I will just say, “Amen!”

Sandy, i was sorta, (er well was) ranting just a little bit ago, about a text I received, and how ignorant it was, and what did it mean? I ask my daughter why am I getting so aggravated with things and people that don’t do right. She stood there and looked at me and said, well, mom, it comes with age, you get less patient with circumstances, people, and things as you get older. Well, I had to think a minute, but maybe thats true, so I will try to be more patient, and kind and understanding, but non the less, I guess I am getting older, after all I will be 63 this July. But I still think you aren’t old until at least 90. Common Courtesy, is just not as well known as it once was. Thanks for your rant and the others and for hearing (reading) mine. Have a great day!!

  8. Cheryl says:

Amen, as well. I was thinking about rude people who talk during concerts…but the funeral issue certainly trumps a concert. Unbelievable.

  9. Sandy says:

You know what, Linda… somehow us “old folks” have got to get the youngsters to appreciate good manners and common courtesy! =)

  10. Judy says:

Getting older and running out of patience makes it sound like the older ones are amiss somehow. I disagree. If we can “vent” a little, and someone is shocked because an “old person” said that, maybe they will mull it over just a little. Common courtesy is becoming a lost art, and what a pity. Cell phones–if only important things were bounced around earth there would be an overwhelming silence………….Meanwhile I have issues with anyone who does not correct some issues when they read your blog, but then another rant–who reads any more?

I have issues with people who lie to my face, people who treat me badly without even getting to know me first, and people who talk badly about me behind my back!!!
