Ice Cream Ingredients

Sometimes this memory thing just cracks me up.  I’ve just made a grocery run to pick up the ingredients for all the ice cream I’m going to make this week.  As I was putting everything away… somehow… it seemed a little odd to be putting the cherry Jello in the pantry.  Well, for pity’s sake!  It wasn’t Jello that Nana put in her ice cream… it was Kool-Aid.  Ha!

The whole time I was eating that Tart Cherry Ice Cream, I kept thinking that I didn’t remember those little gelatin nuggets in her strawberry ice cream.  But they sure are a fun little twist on texture.  Obviously I’ve got to try it with Kool-Aid… and for that mixture I’ll use cherry pie filling instead of plain cherries.  We can have a taste test Saturday!

My fridge is loaded with heavy cream, half-n-half, buttermilk and sour cream.  Let the freezing begin!  Make it an Ice Cream Labor Day weekend!  And if you can… come by the barn Saturday afternoon around 4:30 to celebrate with me.  “My Field Days” turns one year old next week, so it’s definitely time for an ice cream social!

Our weekend plans are still gelling, but we are hoping to make it by, and if we do, we’ll bring cookies! Laughed out loud at the “gelatin nuggets” in the ice cream!
