Ice Cream Recipe

Those of you who’ve had a few field days with me will get a chuckle out of the recipe I chose for my first batch of the summer.  Not my standard strawberry.  Not the delicious sour cream.  Breaking on out of that non-chocolate-peanut-butter-combo fetish!  And this ice cream is grand!!   Give it a try!

Reese’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream

1 ¼ cups peanut butter

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 ¼ cups whole milk

2 cups heavy cream

1 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 cup chopped up Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Blend the peanut butter and sugar with hand mixer, then mix in the milk.  Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.  Let the freezing begin!

Just before the ice cream is finished, add the chopped candy and let it mix in completely.

What’s your favorite?

When you mentioned the sour cream ice cream recipe, which is my all-time favorite, I had to laugh. When Robbie was in 1st grade, he volunteered his mother to bring “the best ice cream ever” to the end of school party. The only problem was I accidentally left out the sugar — what a dreadful taste for 1st graders! They all dumped it in the nearest dumpster. Robbie was mortified, and I was so embarrassed. But, I got volunteered many times after that, so I guess somehow I redeemed myself. We still laugh about that episode.

Yes, I too would like the sour cream recipe. How much does the Reece’s recipe make? Sounds great.

I am afflicted when it comes to recipes. I have so many and still keep collecting them. I have piles of binders full of recipes I have never tried and probably never will. If I did a different one every day, I couldn’t possibly try all of them. I think I need to go for counseling to help solve the problem. Do you think that might help?? I am copying some of yours as soon as I send this note off. See what I mean? Can’t help myself. But when you find a keeper, it is all worth it. Sorry this is so long.

Do you have the sour cream recipe posted? Didn’t see it. My favorite ice cream is my
Strawberry Hash From the recipe collection of Aunt Bess. Use a good vanilla recipe. Add a can of crushed pineapple, a bunch of roasted almonds, and a bunch of mini marshmallows. We put 6 eggs in it. It is delightful. I made some Cherry Garcia the other day but it was more like Cherry Grossia. Not a keeper.

If you have a Cuisinart freezer… this recipe fits perfectly. I’m looking forward to doubling it for a bigger freezer!

I just bought a crank type White Mountain. I bought an electric White Mountain years ago and it quit after a very short time. I remember when I was a kid and we would be visiting Grandad & Rena. They would always make ice cream and when it got hard to turn, he would have me sit on the freezer so he could turn the crank. I always remember that as one of my favorite memories of my Grandad Zack Thomas.
