Long Flight Limerick

To put a quick smile on my face

Just tell me to pack my suitcase

Any time of the year

My heart fills with cheer

At the thought of a brand new place

 ~

Since I don’t want to tell any lies

There is one part I truly despise

It’s the pits, it’s the worst

It’s as bad as a curse

It’s the time when I fly through the skies

 ~

A three hour flight I can take

Or five, even that I can make

But the miserable flight

When it lasts day and night

Has me screaming, “Oh! For pity’s sake!”

 ~

I hurt from my toe to my head

The exuberance long ago fled

My tailbone, my seat

My poor swollen feet

Sleep eludes me, I long for a bed

 ~

The best way to wrap up this song

Is to mention just where I belong

A recliner, you see

First class is for me

It’s too bad the price tag’s all wrong!

Hee hee!  This was how I passed some time on a 15 hour flight from Houston to Dubai.  I composed this silly limerick and repeated each verse to myself several times before going on to create the next one.  Finally, after a little sleep and my third meal on that flight, I was able to get my Ipad and type it out.  Ugghhhhh!  Those long flights do me in!

I totally agree, Sandy. Long flights are like torture. Your final stanza really sums up the perfect solution, which is always out of reach. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip!

Yes! Our neighbor is home! We look forward to the blog additions … and seeing the cat in the yard … that means that Sandy and Gary are back.
Soon, I suspect, Sandy will grace their front yard as she does whatever it is with that wonderful hat, great cat, and bowl … there in the grass!
Oh, and Sandy, my obstreperous dachshund likes and accepts your cat!
