My Bowl of Pecans

In August I took this photo on the way to my mailbox, then came inside and posted “Promise of Pecans” on my site.  Today I’ve gathered the crop.

For such a young tree, it sure has given me a wonderful harvest.  I’m anxious to crack the delicious fruit out of its shell.  Well, no, I’m anxious to have that task behind me.  That part is a job that makes my thumbs rough… but it will be worth it.

Good things come.  Eventually.  It takes time.  On the outside, things looked so much nicer a few months ago.  But it takes these brown husks to give me sweet pecans.  And I had to shake that tree vigorously to get them to fall.

This bowl of brown shells has given me a good feeling today.  For everyone who is hurting this week, this season… I’m so sorry for your pain.  Good things come.  Eventually.  And I know you’ll make it.  That’s my prayer for you.
