Only Just Begun

I’m a romantic.  Can’t be helped.    I remember the day we decided that if we went to get a milk shake at Courtney’s Fried Chicken we’d sit on the same side of the booth and call it a date.  It was an October day in 1980, and we were seniors in high school.  By November we had decided that all the years of on-again-off-again-let’s-date-let’s-just-be-friends antics were nonsense, and we were meant to be together.

We grew up with the music of The Carpenters, and no song of theirs was more famous than “We’ve Only Just Begun”.  We still love their music, and we still go down the highway singing along to the wonderful lyrics.

“Sharing horizons that are new to us, watching the signs along the way.”

We do love new horizons!

“And when the evening comes, we smile.  So much of life ahead.”

Well, after 32 years of togetherness, it sure is grand to feel like we’ve only just begun, and there’s still so much of life ahead.

It’s not really an anniversary, G.  But since I can’t help being a romantic, I’ll wish you a happy one anyway.  Sure do love sailing off into the sunset with you!

YAY! A Guam photo. How hard was it for Gary not to think about fishing while there?

Ha ha! You recognized the blue of the ocean!! We had won this little touristy gift at one of the 5Ks we loved on Saturday mornings. So we did the Seawalker with a delightful crew of Japanese tourists that day. (And I’m pretty sure Gary was thinking about fishing… as always!!)
