Penguins
Part of the joy of traveling for me is keeping a daily journal. I always save it with the photos… even if it’s just a weekend trip to the mountains. Forgive me for posting one more thing about my recent trip, but I can’t help myself. We made new friends on the ship, and I have to show you Rita’s wonderful penguin photo! I’ll share a bit of my journal with you as well…
Rita's Penguins in The Falklands
The day progresses. We are in a snow storm in Antarctica! Riding through it on this luxury liner is like being in a fantastic snow globe. White flakes swirl around, white islands appear and disappear into the fog.

Afternoon tea was just the best. Gary headed off to run 10 miles on the treadmill (and thankfully he was able to dash out on the back deck to catch this moment too), and I headed down to the dining room. The Rosario Strings were playing their delightful music… including “Beyond the Sea” as I sat there having my scones with cream and Darjeeling. I was startled to see an iceberg come floating right into the view out the window… close! Much closer than any we’d passed. And while I ate my treats and listened to my music and visited with new friends, a delightful little group of penguins floated right by on their piece of ice. What a day!

We made such nice friends on the ship, and especially loved our table-mates at dinner every night. We all went such separate ways during the day, and over dinner we loved discussing what we’d seen. Yesterday we received a CD in the mail from Rita… sharing her beautiful photos with us. Oh my! This one was our instant favorite, and I thank you, Rita, for letting me share it with everyone else!!
God’s creation of these amusing creatures is splendiferous! (a new word I learned today)
