The B-I-B-L-E

One of my favorite, favorite things about going to visit my family in Houston is going to Bible class with the babies on Sunday mornings.  Because the family is always growing, I’ve had many happy opportunities over the years to watch tiny hands “pat pat and pat pat” the Bible, and make the wheels of the car go ‘round and ‘round all the way to church.

Last week I got to watch “Baby O” clapping her hands and grinning away while her teacher did the wonderful job of keeping five little ones completely enthralled with songs and props.  When the tiny Bibles were passed out, Olivia softly said “Bible” and the teacher, the mommies and I all cheered.  Although I was seated behind her so I wouldn’t be a distraction, Baby O turned around to grin at me just to make sure I had heard her incredible pronouncement.

And when she sweetly put her baby Moses doll into the basket, she turned around to grin at me just to make sure I’d seen what a great job she’d done.

And when she moved the hands on the paper clock to show us all a good time to pray, she turned around to grin at me just to make sure I was aware that she’s a very clever baby girl.

Oh my!  Thankfulness all around.  Thankful for dedicated teachers.  Thankful for parents who make it to Sunday School.  Thankful for these adorable little souls who have so much to glean.  May their hearts and minds be filled with everything that’s good.

What a face! She looks, and sounds, like quite the personality! I would love to have been a fly on the wall that day. Wish it was on film! How fortunate you are to have that experience!

I so wish we had more parents and teachers guiding our children in those ways… “that will help their hearts and minds be filled with everything that’s good.” And am very thankful for all the ones we do have… 🙂
