Too Many Dots

I was so excited about that parsley.  I was gathering seeds and letting is spread… in the fall I was going to make sure my flowerbeds were full of it, then they’d be so lovely and green throughout the winter.  It’s such a pretty plant, really lush.

I’ve sat out there on my old glider enjoying it, so proud of my plan.  It became a toss up though… look at the flowerbeds and delight in the parsley, daisies and marigolds… or look at the porch itself and be disgusted by all the fly specks.

It was turning into some kind of insanity this spring.  While we didn’t seem to have an over abundance of flies around town, we sure had an over abundance of black dots at our place.  The trim on the barn is all white, so they show up loud and clear!  I have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, and the next day… same story.  What in the sam hill?

I was relaying this charming little story at a family gathering, and my cousin – the queen of the flowerbeds – told me it was surely the fault of the parsley.  Hers was covered in flies, and she was going to get rid of it.

Well, isn’t that just life!  You add this activity and that one.  It seems so good, and so much fun.  You don’t even realize the extra stress it’s bringing.  You spin the plates faster.  You are determined to keep it all balanced.  You’re cleaning up the proverbial mess, and you don’t even know what caused it.  But finally you reach the end of your rope and announce that something’s gotta give!

I’ll be tearing out all that pretty parsley.  It was just too good to be true.  We can’t have it all, so I encourage you and me to take a look at our busy lives and do what we can to weed out the things that cover us up and destroy our peace.

Good lesson to remember. Wish I hadn’t waited all my life to put it into practice. Plans for the summer include “weeding” so that by fall I might have the peace to enjoy all the little things.

Ha! Queen of the flower beds…I’m not so sure about that! But the rest of the sentiment for today sure does resonate with me!! Busy, busy, busy!

I did just that today, Sandy. Had a garage sale and did it feel good to get rid of a lot of “stuff”. It wasn’t parsley, but it was causing the same results.
    “Weeding” is good…………
